Lisa Stewart (I, II, III, IV)
Ms. Stewart worked briefly for Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette in Zurich and after business school joined
Brown Brothers Harriman as a stockbroker in New York and in Paris. In
1987, Ms. Stewart joined Indosuez Asia Investment Services Ltd. (now owned by
Crédit Agricole) in Hong Kong, where she ran the Siam Fund from its inception
in 1988 until 1990. Ms. Stewart then co-managed an Asian regional fund
with Indosuez in London from 1990 to 1991 for W.P. Stewart & Co. In
1991, she joined Lloyd George Management Ltd. in Hong Kong as a founding partner
and left in early 1994 to start Bowen Capital Management. Ms. Stewart was
educated at Barnard College and Columbia University Business School.
Celina Lin (I, II, III, IV)
Ms. Lin started her professional life as an Assistant Professor of Economics and Finance at St.
Bonaventure University in New York. In 1989, Ms. Lin returned to Hong Kong to join Peregrine Brokerage as a regional economist and was eventually appointed
chief economist. She joined Bowen in 1994. Ms. Lin earned an A.B.
degree from Barnard College at Columbia University and holds a Masters degree in
Economics from Johns Hopkins University and an MBA from Virginia Polytechnic
Institute.
Charles Target (I, II, III, IV) Mr. Target, responsible for business development, is co-founder of Bowen Asia, where he is registered as an investment advisor. Before starting Bowen, Mr. Target was a General Partner at Apax Ventures in London, responsible for private equity and venture capital investments in the media sector; making, developing and realizing investments in radio, telecommunications, television, magazines and advertising. He joined Apax from The Economist Group, where he was Marketing Director and then Deputy Managing Director of The Economist Publications Limited. At the Economist, he conceived and launched “The World in . . . ”, The Economist’s annual edition. Outside his professional life, Mr. Target is chairman of Agravina Limited, a company investing in the agribusiness industry in Vietnam. He founded the company in 1992 and has built it into a profitable and growing concern, employing over a thousand people. Mr. Target holds a degree in Physics and Philosophy from Oxford University and an MBA with distinction from the Harvard Business School.
Keith Olson (I, IV)
Mr. Olson began his investment management career with Mutual of Omaha, investing in US equities before spending two years with CREF in New York managing European equities. In 1987, Mr. Olson joined Brown Brothers Harriman working on EAFE portfolios, then Japanese portfolios and finally global portfolios.
From 1989 to 1993, Mr. Olson set up Brown Brothers equity investment office in Tokyo managing all Japanese mandates for New York and London accounts.
After 8 years with Brown Brothers, Mr. Olson joined CDP Global Asset Management in 1995, part of Caisse de dépôt et du placement de Québec, the pension fund of Québec employees
and the largest investment manager in Canada. Mr. Olson set up an Asian investment team, which grew to manage $1.5 billion in Asian portfolios including Japan.
Mr. Olson holds a B.A. in Business Administration and Economics and an MBA from the University of Nebraska. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst.
Jeremy Higgs (I, II)
Mr. Higgs, Managing Director, has spent most of the past twenty years living in Asia and working in the Asian fund management industry. Prior to entering the financial industry, he was a Chief Inspector in the Hong Kong Police Force. He held the position of Director of Investments of Indosuez Asia Investment Services from 1987 to 1993 and was involved in the launch and management of a number of listed country funds, including the Siam Fund, The Malacca Fund, The Manila Fund, The Himalayan Fund and The Shanghai Fund. From 1993 to 1999, he was the Chief Investment Officer and Principal Founder of Carlson Investment Management Far East. Funds under management exceeded US$2bn at the time of his resignation and also included a number of listed country funds such as The Sri Lanka Growth Fund and the Siam Recovery Fund. From 1999 to 2001, Mr. Higgs was the General Manager of IG International (Dublin), the international subsidiary of Investors Group of Canada. Mr. Higgs served as non-executive Director of BDT Invest Funds plc from 2000 to 2003.
Aadil Ebrahim (I, II)
Mr. Ebrahim began his career in 1997 as a chemicals analyst for Schroder & Co. in New York and eventually in Hong Kong. He then worked as a financial analyst for a start-up technology company until 2001. He spent a summer working with Bowen Capital Management until he left to attend business school in London in late 2002. Mr. Ebrahim graduated from University of Michigan Business School, and has a Masters degree in Finance from City University Business School in London.
Gillem Tulloch
Gillem Tulloch joined Bowen in March 2008. Prior to this he spent 14 years as a sell-side analyst in Asia, based in countries such as Singapore, Thailand and Korea. Over the years his responsibilities included being a Thai country analyst, a regional Asian telecoms analyst and, finally, head of Thai research. Before Bowen, Gillem worked with Cazenove for six years, Nomura for two and CLSA for five. Gillem graduated from the University of the West of England in 1994.
Tim Summers
Mr. Summers joined Bowen Asia in January 2008. He trained as an engineer with Rolls Royce and Ricardo in the UK, has lived and worked in Japan, and holds Masters and PhD degrees from Cambridge University. His early career was largely concerned with energy efficiency and pollution from power generation. He then spent ten years in banking, working at Barclays Capital, Credit Suisse and HSBC in front and middle offices, largely in derivatives. He moved to Hong Kong in 2006 and has worked with WWF as a consultant on their energy efficiency programs.
Dzung Vu
Mr. Vu is our investment analyst in Tokyo covering Japanese equities. On joining Bowen in late 2004, he provided portfolio performance attribution analysis as well as other research and analytical work, including the maintenance of our Asian universe of companies. He is now focusing his research efforts on Japanese companies. He spent the summer of 2003 as an economic research intern at International Strategy and Investment Group Inc. in New York. He started his professional life in 1994 advising foreign investors at the then investment board of Vietnam (SCCI). A veteran of the State Securities Commission of Vietnam, he had helped with initial setups of the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange before leaving to attend business school in 2002. He holds a BA degree from Hanoi National University and an MBA with concentrations in Accounting and Finance from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business. Mr. Vu is a native speaker of Vietnamese and is at an advanced level in Japanese.
